In our last post, we talked about dreams verses goals and the importance of understanding the difference between them. But in several conversations I have had with people over the last few weeks especially, I have come to the realization that many people do NOT have goals.
A goal is a desired result a person or a system envisions, plans and commits to achieve—a personal or organizational desired end-point in some sort of assumed development.
Everyday, I watch people doing the same job, day after day, week after week and YEAR after YEAR. The SAME job. Do you know someone like that? ARE you someone like that? I would be very surprised that, if we were to have a conversation, you wouldn't have some dreams or aspirations that you would like to work towards. Yet everyday, nothing is being done towards making those dreams a reality.
And to be clear, we are not only talking about huge, life-changing goals. It could be small things. It could be a dream vacation or going back to school. Or it could be big, like owning your own business or something even bigger.
What are you doing to turn these dreams into goals? What steps are you taking to make those goals a reality? Are you taking steps every day to move yourself closer to the goal line?
