The Grapevine Online has an interesting article titled "Is workplace stress an issue for managers?". It talks about the fact that with all of the recent changes in the workplace, it is important for managers to understand the stress their workers feel and to take steps to remediate that stress. A study from Workplace Options shows that 49% of stressed workers would consider leaving their company for one that offered a less anxious environment. Companies need to move away from the "be glad you have a job" attitude and take the well being of their employees under consideration. I know many companies feel that if people want to leave than let them and we'll just hire new people, but those companies need to understand that it costs the company lots of many when there is employee turn-over and it does not need to incur those costs if they can keep their employees modestly happy.
